“スターチス”と呼ばれることも多い。野生のものは海岸、砂漠などに自生する。ひらひらとしたレースのような部分は萼片であり、花ではない。花はドライ後、小さく萎んでしまう。ピンク、イエロー、ブルー、パープルと、色のバラエティに富んでいる。ドライ後も綺麗に色が残る。
